HCG, Weight Loss and Pregnancy

February 10th, 2010 Amelia Handley No comments

People who have heard about the homeopathic HCG diet have also heard it referred to as the pregnancy diet. They immediately wonder where this term came from. It sounds as if pregnancy is somehow a requirement of the diet. Do you have to be pregnancy? Do you have to be recently pregnant? Do you have to have never been pregnant at all? The actual requirements for the diet are unrelated to pregnancy.

The connection between HCG and pregnancy is very thorough and detailed. But the connection between homeopathic HCG for weight loss and pregnancy is tenuous at best. HCG’s technical name is human chorionic gonadotropin. It is a hormone naturally occurring in the human body; especially during pregnancy. It is a vital element during embryo development.

The human chorionic gonadotropin protects the corpus luteum of the ovary throughout pregnancy. By doing so it ensures that progesterone production continues as necessary for healthy pregnancy/fetal development. Studies continue to study the possible connection between this hormone and the immune tolerance of pregnancy as well.

The relationship between HCG and pregnancy is known to the general public because of the noticeable increase in HCG during pregnancy. It’s one of the signs used to determine pregnancy using early on tests.

Another reason HCG is often referred to as a Pregnancy Diet is due to the heavy use of HCG in fertility treatments. HCG is used extensively as a parenteral fertility medication. In certain instances ovulation can be triggered by administration of HCG. HCG is used during the IVF process to trigger the ovulation process. It is also used to increase/enhance the production of progesterone. HCG is also used for male fertility treatment. It can stimulate the leydig cells to synthesize testosterone.

The use of HCG as a weight loss method was put into action over 50 years ago by Dr. Simeons. The original protocol was based off of daily injections of HCG for weight loss. The program was hailed as the cure for obesity. Now 50 years later the program is still being hailed as a cure for obesity and it is still providing dieters with average weight loss results of 1 to 2 pounds of weight loss per day. The recently available homeopathic versions of the HCG for weight loss has made the benefits available to a much wider portion of the general portion. The exclusive weight loss technique is now a common weight loss aid helping many overcome their weight problems.

Second to Last Day on HCG

January 29th, 2010 Amelia Handley No comments

It’s day 24! I can hardly believe it. That means that tomorrow is the last day of the low calorie portion of my homeopathic HCG diet. (My oral HCG wholesale still has plenty left since I purchased the 26-40 day bottle). I successfully completed the initial two days that they call loading. And I’ve almost successfully completed the 23 days of the low calorie portion of the diet. Next I just have the 26 days left of the maintenance portion of the diet.

Today when I weighed myself I was at 151. Yesterday I was at 152 so I’m down one more pound. I still love seeing the numbers go down. It’s so fun.

The fact that I don’t take the oral HCG wholesale in the last few days of the low calorie diet kind of threw me off a little bit. I’m so used to doing it; it’s so routine at this point. But I do still take my B-Total in the morning. It was a little bit of a high stress day for me so I took it again in the afternoon. It says in the instructions that you can take it as needed for extra energy or during times of stress. I think it’s a really handy supplement.

I meant to try all the smoothies in the cookbook I got from HCG Diet Direct. But I haven’t tried anymore. I guess I just don’t feel like it because it’s chilly lately. Oral HCG wholesale was definitely not the only thing that I found at HCG Diet Direct that I really, really like. They had some fantastic tools that helped make the diet easier.

For lunch I had steak with grilled onions and pomegranate tea. For an afternoon snack I had half a grapefruit and Melba Toasts and another cup of pomegranate tea. It’s one of the better herbal teas I’ve tried. I think if I could put honey in it that it would be quite good. But with a tiny bit of Stevia I can like it enough to drink it.

For dinner I had asparagus, chicken, Melba toasts and strawberries. I feel like I did really well. I hope I lose another pound or two on my last day of the diet. That would be a perfect finishing touch!

It’s my 21st Day!

January 19th, 2010 Amelia Handley No comments

The results I’ve seen on the HCG hormone therapy program are absolutely amazing. So it shouldn’t amaze me that there continues to be massive amounts of online and person to person discussion of the benefits of HCG dieting. I’m amazed by my own fabulous results so I guess it’s only natural that there are countless other people out there being just as amazed by their own weight loss.

During the course of my program I’ve lost 18 pounds. I’ve gone from 171 pounds down to 153. (That’s what I weighed this morning, Day 21, when I got on the scale). That’s one pound down from yesterday’s 154. I have to say…I love these fabulous results.

Being on the HCG hormone therapy has provided me with some new and important skills that are worth noting. I can now control my portion sizes. I can now cook a healthy meal. I can now eat healthy snacks throughout the day without feeling deprived.

And those are really great improvements. So I’m happy with my weight loss, but I think I’m even more happy about the prospect that I’m going to be in a healthier place permanently. I’ve meant to start cooking and eating healthier for a long time, but it never quite happened. And I’m so glad that the HCG hormone therapy protocol forced me to follow through on that goal.

I weighed myself first and then took my B Total and HCG. For lunch I had more HCG and then leftover soup and Melba Toasts. I also had grapefruit. For dinner I pulled out leftover grilled chicken. I added strawberries and Melba Toasts to finish it off. I threw some vanilla flavored Stevia on my strawberries, but I overdid it. Apparently if you put too much it’s NOT good!

I looked it up and someone else who had completed the HCG hormone therapy had discussed that the Stevia is really strong and you only need a tiny, tiny bit. So that made sense. I’ll know for next time. I ate it anyway, of course. I didn’t want to waste the strawberries and it wasn’t disgusting, it was just far too overwhelming for the little bowl of strawberries. Next time I’ll cut back on how many drops I use for sure!

Checking Off Day 23!

January 18th, 2010 Amelia Handley No comments

I’ve been on the homeopathic HCG diet program for 23 days. Since I’m only doing a 25 day program that means I’m almost done! When I discovered where to buy oral HCG online without a prescription I had no idea that the program would be this successful or seem this short.

This morning I got up and weighed myself. I weighed in at 152. That’s two pounds less than yesterday. That’s a good thing because yesterday I didn’t lose any weight. (Actually I went up by one pound). I think I may be in the habit of weighing myself every morning regardless if I’m on a program requiring it or not. That should make maintenance of the weight loss easier.

I took my B vitamin supplement right after I weighed myself. When I discovered where to buy oral HCG online without a prescription I also discovered the great dieting tools that were offered at the same site. It was weird when I realized that I was finished taking the HCG three times each day. You don’t take it for the last three days of the diet. I had asparagus, Melba toasts, grapefruit and filet mignon for lunch.

Then for dinner I made the buffalo chicken salad (this counts as my protein and my vegetable). I overdid the sauce quite a bit, but luckily I like things spicy. I also had some strawberries and some Spicy 3 Pepper Melba Toasts with my salad. It turned out quite well.

I tried to think about drinking plenty of water throughout the day. I’ve actually always thought of myself as a big water drinker. But being on the HCG diet has definitely left me doubting that opinion. So now I see it as me having adopted another good habit by doing the HCG diet; I drink a lot more water now. I’ve probably doubled the water I drink in a day.

Throughout the last 23 days I’ve lost 19 pounds. I’m really happy with that. The average weight loss is 1 to 2 pounds per day, but men lose more weight on average so I think that being 4 pounds short of the low end of the average is pretty good! 19 pounds is a definite difference!

Still Losing Weight on Day 15!

January 5th, 2010 Amelia Handley No comments

I’ve loved losing weight on my HCG Diet. It’s day 15 of the 25 day program. I finally feel like I’m getting there. 15 days is a big deal when the entire length of the program is only 25 days. Diet consumer reviews all indicated that once you hit the half way point it would be totally easy. The diet consumer reviews said that you’d have habits that kept you on track and it would be easy to reach for the right foods throughout the day.

But I guess all diet consumer reviews aren’t exactly correct in their conclusions. I wouldn’t say I find it easier. I’d say I’m more capable. I know I can cook healthy so if I don’t it’s not because I’m not sure what to do it’s because I’m just not doing it. I know which foods to eat that are HCG approved so if I eat other foods it’s not because I wasn’t sure if they were approved or not it’s because I just did it anyway.

But that’s an improvement, right? At least I’m not constantly giving in to the temptation to break the rules! I’m aware of the rules and I’m aware of my ability to stick to them. The question has become whether or not I will! Today I weighed in at 156. I lost 3 pounds. Wahoo! I love those days.

My HCG and B-Total was taken as recommended throughout the day. Although I broke my normal routine and didn’t take my B-Total until late afternoon. Usually I take it first thing in the morning. It’s one of the additional products that I found mentioned in the diet consumer reviews. And this time I totally agree with the reviews. It’s a great addition to the HCG.

My green onion burger at lunch was perfect with half a grapefruit. The Melba Toasts I laid out for lunch ended up hanging around there for an hour or two until I ate them mid-afternoon. I was so glad that I ran across another grocery store in the area that carries the Spicy 3 Pepper variety of Melba Toasts. They blow all the other flavors out of the water!

For dinner I had the taco salad from the cookbook. It was good; not my favorite, but alright. That’s probably just because Taco Salad is a classic dish that I grew up with and it’s amazingly yummy the way I remember having it throughout my childhood and the HCG version just veered too far away from what I already knew. But it’s worth a try for anyone looking for quick, easy, healthy meals that the whole family can eat.

Day 16! Still on the HCG Diet!

January 3rd, 2010 Amelia Handley No comments

I’ve got less than 10 days left on the low calorie portion of the HCG diet. That makes Day 16 one of my favorites so far. Here’s a quick reminder of the program layout. It started off with 2 days of loading. Loading is eating a whole lot of food with a whole lot of fat content and therefore calories. While loading you start taking your HCG three times daily. It’s supposed to increase the ability of the body to absorb the HCG product. After loading you start a 500 calorie per day portion of the diet. I chose to do the program that had me dieting for 23 days, but there are different lengths you can choose from.

After the 23rd day on the very low calorie diet comes the HCG maintenance diet. I’m kind of big on preparation (or some might call it unnecessary torture since I don’t really have to worry about this extension of the diet for quite a bit). During the HCG maintenance diet you can eat as much food of any type of food you choose (up to 1500 calories per day). There are, of course, some heft exceptions to this eat anything rule. During the HCG maintenance diet you cannot eat: sugar, dextrose, sucrose, honey, molasses, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, starch of any kind, artificial sweeteners, fast food, trans fat, and nitrites.

When I first read it that seemed like a pretty big list of exceptions, but in comparison to the short list of approved foods while on the low calorie portion of the diet it’s no biggie! 1500 calories is a massive increase from 500, right? And I’m definitely accustomed to limiting my food intake after the 500 calorie portion of the diet. All this weight loss has definitely been inspiring me to keep heading in the right direction.

Alright so now that we’ve had that nice little recap from loading to low calorie to HCG maintenance diet we can move on. Today I weighed in at 156. I know! I did so good yesterday and no weight loss. I decided to add some green tea in (which I did…YUCK!) and try to drink a lot more water. I think I messed up with my water intake yesterday. I didn’t fill a pitcher first thing in the morning so I don’t really know how much I drank.

I took my drops (both HCG and B-Total) as required throughout the day. I don’t think the timing is that difficult. It sounded annoying at first, but 15 minutes of no food/drink before and after isn’t really that big of a deal. I go 15 minutes without food/drink all the time.

On day 16 I focused on leftovers. At lunch I had leftover green onion burger with Melba toasts and grapefruit. For dinner I had leftover chicken (the last of it) with strawberries and more Melba Toasts. I drank a ton of water. And I’m hoping I’ll drop down in weight again tomorrow; fingers crossed!

My 13th HCG Day Down!

January 3rd, 2010 Amelia Handley No comments

If you read my summary of events yesterday then you’re probably very hatefully waiting to see my weight jump up by several pounds. And I’d deserve it. I did break all HCG protocol and oral HCG reviews advice and indulge in disgustingly (yet tasty, it had to be said) fattening items like homemade potato salad, green salad doused in Caesar dressing and massive turkey legs (grilled, but still). It was a very bad day for my HCG diet.

So all you haters out there…get ready…my weight went from 160 to……160! Ta da! I’ve escaped punishment for today at least. Although the fact that I stayed the same is a bit of punishment in itself. I like the days when I drop 2 pounds or more much better.

I might still be punished with a jump in my weight. The oral HCG reviews suggest that it can happen that way. But still…for today I’m saved. Alright. I’ll quit being dramatic. But it is lovely that I wasn’t punished for my bad eating behavior yesterday.

Anyway…so I took my HCG (and my B-Total) as I was supposed to throughout the day. I got online and read a few oral HCG reviews to see if there was something people suggested that could alleviate the negative results from falling off plan. I didn’t find anything extraordinary. I decided that I’d just really do a good job of sticking to the plan for the day. But I think I will do a bit more searching through of the oral HCG reviews later to see if anything amazing pops up that can fix what’s already been done.

But for today it doesn’t matter because I stuck to plan. I had Creole seasoned, grilled chicken. I actually cooked up several so there would be extra for later on this week. With the chicken I had a fresh, sliced tomato and some Melba Toasts. I tried squeezing lemon into all my water throughout the day. It makes it much more refreshing and feels a little fancy if you see the lemon floating in the water. I forced some green tea down early on in the day. It’s still horrible. But apparently it’s a good weight loss booster that you can use in combination with the HCG drops so I’m going to try it now and then. That’s what the oral HCG reviews say, anyway. And my fruit for the afternoon was an apple while I waited for the school bus to arrive.

At dinner I used some of the extra chicken I cooked to make the fabulously yummy and quick Chicken Asparagus Soup (for the recipe…access the HCG Diet Direct ecookbook). I’m actually quite attached to all the soups in the cookbook. Apparently I’m not the only one either because I’ve run across several oral HCG reviews that say the same thing. With my soup I had Melba Toasts again for dinner and another apple. Apples are so nice and easy and mess free. I’ve gotten as attached as I used to be when I was a kid. I don’t even cut them up anymore. I just grab it and go and eat whole.

It’s Day 12…The Half Way Mark on My HCG Diet

December 30th, 2009 Amelia Handley No comments

I’m going to start off the day’s review by saying that I should have paid more attention to the diet reviews I read. They told me that I should just stay home whenever possible. And it’s absolutely true. The program is pretty short so I could have been a hermit throughout it; no big deal. I lean a little towards hermit anyway. Today’s Day 12 on the diet. Since I’m doing the 25 day program I’m about half way. My buddy, Lisa, who is doing the diet with me as an added sense of inspiration (a.k.a. competition) is also still sticking to the plan for the most part. We’re a bit neck and neck when it comes to total weight loss and I really want to win the side bet we made.

But I might not! I just had to say it once and now I’m going to go back to acting as if I’m totally going to win hands down. I’ve lost a ton of weight. I’m doing fine and I’m identifying pitfalls as they come so that I can avoid them.

The day started off the same as usual. I got up and weighed myself. I’ve done pretty well so far remembering to note down my weight daily. I went down one pound. And I’m always good with one pound down. I’m officially at 160. That means I’ve lost a total of 11 pounds in 12 days. I’m liking the sound of that.

I thought when I started that the weight coming off would be inspirational and make it easy for me to stick to the diet; even though I read several diet reviews that said they loved the weight loss, but still had a hard time sticking to the strict guidelines. And it’s true. It’s still not easy. But I’m just going to keep a running list of the places and activities that I just have GOT to avoid while I’m on the low calorie diet. One for sure “no admittance while on 500 calorie diet” area is the Mall’s food court. I was absurd to imagine that would work out. It didn’t. And it won’t; ever.

Another activity/location that I must avoid at all costs from now until the end of the HCG regime is the “family party.” Today was my niece’s birthday party. They had a barbeque; which I thought would work out since grilled meat is pretty much HCG approved. So I left planning on eating at the party. But there were delays. We didn’t eat lunch at the party. We ended up eating dinner because there was a problem with the grill or something. By the time the food was served I was a raving, starving lunatic. I hadn’t eaten anything ALL DAY!

Waiting too long to eat is a definite problem. I’ve already noticed that. But this day was way worse than the sitting at home and didn’t make lunch until I was actually hungry day. I think my stomach was actually starting to eat itself. And then they served up barbequed sausage and turkey legs; which is absolutely fabulously yummy, but WHAT? Where was all the grilled chicken? Along with that I had the choice of Caesar salad or potato salad. I’ll cut the long story short and say…well, I did avoid the cake. That’s saying something, right? I should have paid more attention to those diet reviews before I put myself in the midst of a family party. I should have put some grilled chicken in a baggie in my purse or something. (Although that sounds really gross…)

The Very Low Calorie Diet, Day Three

December 20th, 2009 Amelia Handley No comments

Alright. Yesterday was a bit rough. I broke the diet and it was only my second day on the very low calorie portion of my HCG program. But in my defense…the mall food court absolutely overwhelmed my sense of self. They arrange it in a semi-circle so it seems as if there’s no way to escape. And my kids were taking FOREVER to eat their deep fried food with all the yummy (sugar filled) sauces! Alright…alright. I’ll stop defending myself and just move on!

Today I got up and weighed myself. I went down even though I didn’t stick to plan yesterday. I’m now down to 163. That’s pretty cool. I was already mad enough that I broke and had non-approved chicken yesterday. (Panda Express and Chick-Fil-a both have amazingly tasty chicken, but none of it is HCG approved. They’ve GOT to learn some healthy cooking methods).

Then I took my HCG drops and my B-Total. (The B-Total isn’t required, but I really like it. I have a feeling that I’d be a lot more despondent on the diet without it. It gives you energy). I picked up the HCG weight loss cure guide a supplemental guide to dr Simeons HCG cure protocol to really get things clear about the do’s and do not’s while on the diet. I figure the more I know the less likely I am to break the diet.

I’d heard or read most of it before, but a refresher is always good. Maybe if I read a bit of protocol update every day I’ll be less likely to fall off the wagon again. I definitely want to take advantage of all the weight loss possible while on the diet. I don’t want to waste my efforts!

So after I took my second set of HCG drops about noon I made lunch. It was turkey chili. And it was great. I think it’s all the fresh tomatoes that make it so yummy. Any soup with fresh tomatoes in it seems to turn out really tasty in my experience. And one other tip for you is to try the Spicy 3 Pepper Melba Toasts. They are really, really good (especially in comparison to your other flavor choices from Melba Toast). For my fruit…I had a Gala apple for snack later in the day.

I took my third dose of HCG at about 5 PM and then made dinner. I had grilled chicken (try my favorite Creole seasoning, Tony Chachere’s). It’s absolutely amazingly tasty. The kids like it if I don’t put too much seasoning on. They don’t yet like it “hot” but I’m still working on training them up when it comes to spicy foods. I made asparagus to go with the grilled chicken. And we had strawberries for dessert. I wanted a snack because I had to stay up late for work, but I just kept drinking water instead. I drank a ton. I was up and down all night going to the bathroom, but I didn’t break plan today. Are you proud?

The Homeopathic HCG Diet, Day 10

December 19th, 2009 Amelia Handley No comments

It’s my 10th day on the HCG Diet. I’m starting to see why it is known as the HCG obesity cure since I’ve already lost 9 pounds. That’s really quite impressive.

I woke up this morning and weighed myself. I was at 162.2. Dang it. I wasn’t even down a whole pound. And that’s since the day before yesterday since I missed weighing myself yesterday. So I had to run through yesterday and see if I did something that I shouldn’t have done. Yesterday I was really pretty good about only eating HCG approved foods so it’s not that.

It must be that I’m eating portions that are more than a single serving (per the HCG obesity protocol, that is). I’m going to be more careful and start measuring stuff as I eat. I think it might be all the soups I’ve been having. I bet I’m serving too much up for myself each time. I’ll watch it from now on. And just in case it’s not the serving size I’m also going to increase my water. Why not, right?

The huge cups that I was carting around have fallen into disfavor. They’ve spilled HUGE amounts of water in far too many places throughout my house (and car) while I was carrying them around trying to make sure I always had water on hand. So instead I think I’ll try water bottles. That way I can cart them around and keep them wherever I want without fearing that I’ll end up with a huge water logged mess.

The water bottle is definitely mobile and it won’t spill. I took my HCG 3 times today as required by the HCG obesity protocol. I took my B-Total at lunch time instead of breakfast because I was purposefully laying about this morning. Every now and then it’s just relaxing to lay around without any energy for a few hours. For lunch I had the leftover soup that was in the fridge (I measured to make sure the serving size was appropriate before I dug in).

My little girl is having a sleep over tonight with a friend. I made grilled chicken and asparagus for dinner. The sleep over friend would have none of it so she got a cheese crisp and some milk. But the kids ate it alright. Then there was a big calamity. The girls decided making cookies was the perfect sleep over activity. I set them all up, helped them make cookies and then helped them eat a couple. I KNOW! I was very bad. I wasn’t quite sure what to do about it after the fact so I just skipped my fruit for the evening. I feel that falls far short of actually making up for the cookie breakdown, but there wasn’t anything to do about it after the fact.

It wasn’t the best HCG day. But I’m getting right back on track tomorrow for sure. I’m sure the HCG obesity cure can still help me out even though I messed up and probably won’t lose any weight tomorrow. I have to say that the sugar cookies didn’t taste near as good when I knew I wasn’t supposed to have them!
